There is a small croft across the fields and in the background a looming mountain can be seen. The painting is framed in a thin gilt frame with a thin canvas border and sits behind glass.
Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham was born in Dublin in 1823, the son of the skilled artist Thomas Leeson Scrase Rowbotham. He subsequently trained under his father and also took inspiration from the likes of J M Turner and other experimental artists of the time. Creating his own unique style that played with light and colour.
