Artists Biography
Self-taught English artist John Trickett started painting in his 20s. John Trickett's paintings of sporting dogs, specifically Labradors, caught the attention of publisher Sally Mitchell early on, and she agreed to publish his art, which was the beginning of their work together. While his Labrador dog paintings garnered the most acclaim, even spawning a series of limited edition Franklin Mint plates, artist John Trickett's seascapes are noted for their striking representations of nature and are equally as impressive.
His artwork has only seen public exhibition once, when without his knowledge, his publisher entered him into a French animal painting competition, and consequently, he received the silver medal. Though John Trickett's prints are well-known, he prefers to stay out of the public eye, foregoing fame for a quiet life with his partner and pets in Nottinghamshire.
