A patinated fine quality bronze figure of a bull with ivorine horns, mounted on a mottled marble base. Signed to the rear of one leg 'Elwell'.

 

Robert Farrington Elwell (1874-1962) was a leading American wild west artist. Very much influenced by real life cowboys and Indians from an early age, Elwell also used his exposure and experience from working as Buffalo Bill Cody's ranch manager to create varying forms of art to include paintings, illustrations and sculpture on the subject.
